Buongiorno, Roma.

Have yourselves a nice couple of weeks. I am off to one of my favorite places--Italia. But I should honestly say that I will spend but 2 days in my favorite city, and then it is off to places unknown, to me anyway. To Rapallo for a few days, and then on to Torino. In the first place I am Pound-hunting, and in the latter hoping to look at some of Vivaldi's own collection of manuscripts.

So wish me well. One thing is certain: I will eat well. OK, really two things, if you count the drinking separately. Ah, the land of good, cheap wine!

Fury,

Have a safe and wonderful trip. Will be eager to read about your trip when you return.

Furious,

Ah, the life of a cultural archaeologist- international travel; hunting down lost and rare manuscripts by seducing timid curators in order to gain access to restricted archives, only to slip through the hotel window late at night; fighting off the minions of some anonymous evil overlord who has nefarious plans for those same manuscripts; sitting in a cafe, enjoying a fine meal accompanied by a wonderful wine as you laugh about your latest exploits...

You academics have all the great adventures.

Godspeed.

My envy for your trip is tempered only by the knowledge that the weather in Rome is going to be a bit sticky next week...

Ah, screw it. My envy for your trip is completely untempered. Have a good time.
